NITI AYOG STATED THAT INDIA HAS OVERTAKEN JAPAN TO BECOME THE WORLD’S FOURTH-LARGEST ECONOMY

NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam has stated that India has overtaken Japan to become the world’s fourth-largest economy. This was announced after the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting, and Subrahmanyam cited International Monetary Fund (IMF) data for this development.According to the IMF’s World Economic Outlook (WEO) report released in April, India’s nominal GDP for 2025 (FY26) is projected to be around $4.19 trillion, marginally surpassing Japan’s estimated GDP. India is now a $4 trillion economy.The only economies larger than India are the United States, China, and Germany. Furthermore, Subrahmanyam expressed confidence that India is poised to displace Germany from the third rank within the next 2.5 to 3 years.
